also – big question. When I downloaded the core2000 deck, I also downloaded the rar. file with all the audio files, and the other one. Now, I know how to add an mp3 to each individual card, but how can i bulk add audio? The mp3s aren’t even labeled as anything I can read. so.. any help, please? I’m also not sure if the audio files even know which cards to go to ._____.

Oh I missed the ん thing before. The Japanese ん is actually a something called a “uvular nasal”. Its hard to explain it without just saying it, but its basically said much deeper in the throat lol. Its almost a ng sound a lot of the time. Especially in 日本. However you can kind of not worry for a long time and be fine.

For the deck, I cant say 100% on that exact deck, but usually if you find the folder the deck is in, and just dump all the media into the media folder, it should already be linked in the deck.

@ Sheepy err yeahh the problem i’m having, is since i downloaded the deck through anki itself, i’m not seeing an actual folder for it in my anki folder. like, when i import a folder/make a folder, it shows up in the anki decks folder.. this core2000 one isn’t. hmm

Just my actual Anki folder. with all the (deck name).media folders and “.anki” files.

when i downloaded the core2000 deck from anki itself, an .anki file never appeared. so i just took the file with all the audio files, and added “.media” on the end of it.

    no good.

and i checked back a minute ago, and there’s a core2000.anki file in the folder, along with the media folder, but there’s still no media playing.

sooo… idk. maybe i can find a core2000 deck with everything included somewhere, so i can just import everything as usual

So this is in your Documents/Anki folder where the decks are right? The deck should be there, if not maybe try doing a search on your PC for the file? After that you should just be able to copy the deck name and attach .media to a folder and throw everything in there.

unfortunately it seems like the downloads for the media are down now ,so its hard for me to try and replicate it myself.

Bad news (for me anyway): turns out I can’t take ANY Japanese classes. They just can’t fit into my timetable at all – been trying for ages and ages to think if there might be some ways to miss out on some lectures and catch up later, but no matter what way I try to jiggle things about, it just doesn’t work >.< I'll still continue with self-studying Japanese but it's just a bummer I can't include it into my Uni work.

My last resort is to try and get into a Norwegian class, but I'm waiting to get a reply to my email asking if my Japanese and French skills count as appropriate experience (I didn't take any languages during high school at the level they want). All the other languages were either useless to me or they were uninteresting. Norwegian seems kinda cool, but it looks like I might not get to do ANY languages if I'm not allowed this one…

Sucks, but I can't do anything about it ¬.¬

I have experience both in an actual course and textbooks as well as textfugu, and I can say that the course itself was wonderful. You had a real teacher and in my case I was so happy to meet a real live person (haha) who could do what I was there to learn. The other students were equally interested, it was the third semester and so the people who were not serious enough were seeded. I loved it but it was -slow- once per week, 90 minutes. That is nowwhere near what I want to do, however it was a good addition. In textfugu I learned in a better way at my on pace, and don’t regret having spend 120$ into my future. In the future I hope to enroll in some courses because well, a language not spoken to anyone remains lonely. I would recommend taking courses adequate to ones level, and keep working on a schedule that fits into your every day life. I haven’t been so strict with anything in my life, it must mean something to me:)
