    Hello TextFugians!

I recently started with TF’s first lesson and am currently workin on my passion list. I made a new deck in Anki with my vocab etc, but the only thing I’m not sure about is if I should put the English word on the front side and the Japanese word in hirgana on the back or vice versa?

I currently have the English word on the front, because that’s the way how Koichi made it in the video that comes with the part, but I noticed that I don’t take as much time as I probably should in reading the word in hiragana and trying to make a connection between these two words when I click the answer. Should I switch the hiragana on the front side and have the translation in the answer? I think this way I will read the hiragana and actually LOOK at them and then see in which word it will translate to.

How do you guys set up your vocab cards?

My advice? If you think it might help, try it :)

Personally, I have my cards going from Japanese to English, but other people have it the reverse (and I’m sure others have both, or change every so often); there are benefits and drawbacks to both.

    Thanks for your answer. :)

I thought so that the best way is just to try it, but I wanted to get back to other learners and ask nonetheless, just to make sure or something. In the end you’re right and I know that too, there’s no “right” way when it comes to learning. And with that said, off to the hiragana I go!

Definitely let us know how it works :D Maybe the next time you come back, there will be other people weighing in.

I think doing both would be a good way to go, if you can go to the trouble.
