Well, “decent” by my own standards at my own positioning. I can read a word within a few seconds usually, haha. But I’m starting to see the trick; like when I read English, I don’t individually scan each letter and figure out what it means. I look at the whole word and my mind fills in the blanks for me. This is starting to happen with a few Japanese words that the book is drilling into me, and I think that’ll be the secret to how I’ll read the way I read English today in a fast pace.

I don’t expect that my Japanese reading speed will exceed my English reading speed (as much as I hope so) but I’m hoping for it to become close within the next year.
