Thanks Christina! Welcome to you too! Yeah, Busuu is cool so far, I like it because since it’s an app, it’s easily and quickly accessible on a smart phone, for when you have a few minutes here and there to practice. The only thing I don’t like, is I made a free account online (which you don’t have to do) and it sends me e-mail requests to try to get me to correct other learner’s (from all other countries) English. I wouldn’t mind doing a language exchange practice back and fourth in Japanese, but… I just don’t have time to correct everyone’s English on Busuu for free. :P So, i’d skip the e-mail part, but other than that, I think it’s a decent supplement so far. I also like for Hiragana and Katakana practice/review, the app Dr. Moku’s Hiragana/Katakana. It’s a mnemonics app. I had the free version which let’s you do the full quizzes for both, but doesn’t give you the full mnemonics. I finally got the paid versions, and they’re not that great :/ (plus, I already learned Hira & Kata, so, didn’t really need them. I was just curious to see what the other mnemonics pictures were. :)) But, if you feel you need practice, I like the graphics on that app (so many of them are sooo boring!) and the quiz is on the free version (but it’s multiple choice, so you have to cover the choices to be sure you really know the answer. :)).

Hey Christina! Welcome to the forums too! :)

I don’t know much about games really, but I happened to be on YouTube the other day looking at some Studio Ghibli stuff and found this “behind the scenes” vid. I guess they made (maybe their first?) game a few years ago. Their movies are obviously great for animation, so I thought you’d be interested in this video about this game they collaborated on, if you haven’t seen it yet. :) Cheers!

P.S. I definitely hope you decide to go to Japan soon! I’d want to learn some language, but probably won’t be fluent before I go, and that’s ok! :) I think you’ll definitely learn it this time around! Good luck!!

NOTHING is impossible, Koichi!! …Ok, MANY THINGS are not impossible!! :D MAYBE even the Cheetah thing …if you were an insanely quick thinker :B …though, I probably wouldn’t test this theory out in reality… So, yeah… what you said, there, yeah.

Hey Koala_Chan, I’ve actually found two great apps for iPhone (but it may be for android as well) that teach mnemonics through flash cards for Hiragana and Katakana. The Quizzes for the full alphebet, and a few cards are on the free ones, and the paid ones with all the kana are about $1.99 i think. They are super cheezy, but they do work. They helped me remember the few Hiragana that i kept forgetting (no matter how any times i looked at them on a regular chart!!), and they’re helping me remember Katakana pretty well too, which are harder for me to remember than Hiragana for some reason. Look it up in the iPhone app store or on GooglePlay, It’s called Dr. Moku’s Hiragana, and Dr. Moku’s Katakana.
