I’ll be leaving Wednesday morning (the 28th) and will be there for about 18 days. I’m going to be backpacking across the entire country only with my carry-on and bought a JR Pass to accomplish this.
I made a list of places I’d like to visit, but I have no itinerary or hotels booked. Just going at my own pace and taking everything in.
I seriously cannot wait!!!
Haven’t used IRC in almost a decade. I wonder if Chrome has any IRC extensions.
Anywho, I’d be down. :)
I’ll look into it.
That’s a good point. Didn’t even think of it like that.
Yeah I was going to avoid late April/early May because of Golden Week.
Any reason why traveling in the summer is better for someone coming alone? I’m not sure yet if I’ll be having anyone accompany me, but I really can’t see anyone either being into it or having the money. Missing the festivals is a good point.
I remember looking at that site, but there’s so much knowledge, I only got halfway through it all. I’ll have to finish it again. I like temples, but like you said they seem like they’d get kind of old fast. Isn’t there some unlimited travel pass for the Shinkansen for like $200 or something?
Camels? Really? Lol
Apply your hearts out and don’t get discouraged if they tell you no. The economy sucks, but just keep going. You’ll find some place eventually.
Maybe I’ll put one on my iPad smart cover? I use that a lot for TF/Japanese. :O

See, I was having an error message come up when I was downloading media #13. Doing what I said above fixed my issue, but it sounds like yours isn’t even attempting to download.
Check maybe the manual part of the link I posted?
Hm. Did you follow the guide on AnkiWeb’s site?
Same as my name here
I had this problem as well.
Open Anki on your desktop, open the deck you’re using, click on Tools->Advanced and then Check Database and Check Media Database. After that, sync.
That fixed my issue.
Thanks a bunch! Downloading it now. I used code ATH9AAFFP6FW.
Thanks everyone! I’m hoping to poke my head in here frequently.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been fascinated with Japan – the culture, landscape, architecture, media, fashion. Pretty much everything.
I’ve been wanting to visit since high school, but I didn’t want to go without having at least a grasp of the language. I’ve got enough miles through airlines to have my airfare free, so the only thing really stopping me is the language barrier, but I’m working hard and dedicating myself to it.
I’ve had some prior experience researching the language, so the first few chapters were review for me. I’m progressing pretty well.
