Ok, so go with what the kana looks like it should be pronounced?
I start it up every morning while I drink my coffee. Sometimes I skip a day. This morning I did ~160 cards in 25 minutes. I need to weed out the old decks that I no longer need. I don’t know how it’s going to go for me as I get further along in the textfugu Seasons. I figure that if the Anki cards are piling up so much, I need to slow down and let them thin a bit. If I charge ahead too quickly, I don’t remember things as well.
I found a better mnemonic for 又
A guy drags himself into a bar to drown his sorrows. He’s sitting down on a STOOL (radical) and says to the bartender ‘Hit me AGAIN‘ (meaning) (colloquial phrase I’ve heard in old films meaning to get another drink). The bartender asks ‘What’s the MATA with you?’ (reading).
Note: I do not approve of drowning sorrows with alchohol, there are better ways to handle things. However, that disapproval actually made this much easier to remember.

Howdy howdy all. I’m back after about a three month break. Now I’ve forgotten everything and have the fun task of starting over. =)
Must be a coincidence. My name’s Zachary. Or, ザカリー if you want katakana. =)
What games in particular are you interested in? Some of my favorites are
The Rockman EXE series (as I already said)
Super Metroid
Final Fantasy 1-6
Chrono Trigger
Soul Blazer
Super Mario RPG
well… actually… just name about any RPG for the SNES and you’ve got me. =PThank you =)
Howdy,
I’ve also got a cartoon series that I’m waiting on so I can go sub-less. =)
Welcome to the crowd,
Z-manHowdy hey, =)
Games are what also got me interested in learning Japanese to begin with. One of my favorite game series (Rockman EXE) had a game that was never released stateside (and the others had large parts lopped out), and no one has translated them even six years later. So, I started looking into what it would take. Now, I’m just learning Japanese because it’s fun. =)
Mostly newcomer here myself, but welcome to the crowd!
Z-manLunchFugu? Sounds dangerous. Aren’t you supposed to have trained for seven years and have a government issued license in order to LuchFugu? =P
On a side note, do you prefer to be addressed as はしくん、 はしさん、or はしさま? =)
(you know, I’m really beginning to like the honorifics system)
ザカリ
Heh, yup. However, I’m about three hours south of Seattle. It actually takes less time to get to the ocean than it does to get up there (we live only about an hour from the ocean). Frankly, I’m tired of visiting the ocean, cliff or no cliff. I’d rather go to the mountains. We go to the ocean four or five times every year.
Howdy,
I’m not quite sure myself (I’m a newcomer here), but Koichi-sensei has another website called tofugu which, I believe, predates this one. If I understand correctly ‘to’ is some sort of possessive particle. “My blowfish”. Meh.

Howdy,
I’m afraid that I haven’t mastered it either. No matter what I couldn’t get the L/R combo sound. I finally just fell back on the rolled R I learned for Spanish. It’s probably going to get me into trouble soon, but until I can hear a LOT more examples of it in use, I don’t think I can get it any closer.

Well, it will be a long while till I can use Lang-8, but until then I guess I’ll struggle through on the anki stuff. It’s getting a little easier for the ones I just learned, I’m starting to recognize them. I suppose I can just camp out here until I’m comfortable and then move on. Anyway, thanks for your advice. =)
He did point that out with です and でした, but not this newer stuff. I guess it’s just a matter listening to people speak more. Thanks. =)
@ Yggbert
That would only work for me if I knew the word (and how to pronounce it) to begin with. And by that time, I’d be so used to the Hiragana, that I think I’d have a hard time getting the Kanji to ‘stick’.
