Practice

“The future is uncertain but the end is always near.” – Jim Morrison

There wasn’t a lot happening with weeks, was there? No matter, we’re still going to practice. Everything you learned about “weeks” can be applied everywhere else, as well.

Exercise 1

Let’s take a look at some example sentences… sort of prime that brain of yours for exercise 2. Try to translate these on your own. Figure out why the sentences work rather than memorizing the sentences sound by sound.

See you next week!

This week is the test

He has been over there for two weeks.

I studied for three weeks.

1 week has passed.

If everything here looks okay, move on to Exercise 2.

Exercise 2

Take a look at your previous two time-related Lang-8 entries. Figure out where you went wrong. Figure out what you can fix for this one. It’s all kind of similar, so there should be something you can carry over and use to improve your Japanese (remember, small incremental steps are key to getting better!).

For this exercise, I want you to write a journal entry about what you’re doing this week. If nothing interesting is happening, you could always make something up. Alternatively, you could talk about last week or next week, too.

After you get corrections analyze what you did right/wrong, then figure out how you’ll be able to apply your new knowledge to the next journal entry you write.
