Did you pass?May 19, 2013 at 5:35 am #40071
I’m having trouble with anki, every time i try to download or add the decks you suggest it says it is not compatible? please help, thanks :DMay 19, 2013 at 5:43 am #40072
What operating system are you using?
What version of Anki?
What are the exact steps you are using to import?
At what point in this process are you getting the message?
Can you type the exact error message word for word?May 19, 2013 at 6:00 am #40073
Anki 2 I download it straight from their website.
I go to http://ankisrs.net/ click the download button at the top then it goes to the download bit and I click download anki for windows.
Then it starts to download
Then I click install
The I click anki on my desktop and it asks what language I click English and that’s about as far as I can get before it say not compatible with the downloads from textfuguMay 19, 2013 at 6:06 am #40074
Feels like you accidentally forgot to tell me about a step you’ve taken in there. It’s OK, that’s easy to do.
It does sound like you’ve installed Anki correctly.
It also sounds like your not importing the decks correctly. I’m guessing you’re skipping a step in the process.
Double check that you didn’t forgot to tell me about a step you’ve taken in the process. When you first run Anki it has no way of knowing what decks you want to import until you’ve asked it to import the decks. As you’ve described it, you’ve made it sound like Anki automatically searched your hard drive for the Textfugu decks, and it can’t do that, so that’s how I know you’ve forgotten to tell me about one more steps you’ve taken.
Also, please share the exact error message word for word.
I’m guessing you’ve got a really simple problem that’s easy to fix, but you have to be my eyes and ears here.
Thanks!May 19, 2013 at 6:35 am #40075
I go on textfugu and go to the download page I click the link like sentence 2 and it just automatically downloads n then I try to open it with anki and then is says unable to import from a read-only file.
sorry im not very good at explaining im not great with computersMay 19, 2013 at 11:19 am #40078
You’re ok. You are doing great.
> I think we are almost there. :)
> I’m about to step into a movie, so I’ll keep this short.
> Right click on the file. Select properties. Uncheck read only click ok.
> After that, you need to unzip the file. Right click on it and you should find an option to unzip in the context menu that pops up.
> If you still are unsure let me know and I’ll write up more details after the movie.
> Good luck!May 19, 2013 at 1:41 pm #40081
Did you have a chance to try what I suggested? Did it make sense?
Please let me know either way. I’d like to keep helping you, if you’re stuck, and if you’re not then I’d just be happy to know that too. :)May 20, 2013 at 12:24 am #40086
Hi thanks for your help, I unchecked read only thing but i didn’t know how to unzip the file so i clicked on the extract option and i think it worked.
Thanks for your help :) how was your movie?May 20, 2013 at 11:15 am #40093
Glad to hear it worked for you! Sorry I couldn’t remember the exact name. Zip, and unzip is the same as compressing, or decompressing. Extract is the term Windows uses to describe the process of unzipping.
The movie was better than I thought it would be actually. ;) I enjoy plenty of geeky stuff, but I’m lukewarm on Star Wars, and Star Trek. This was the new Star Trek movie, and although it wasn’t the bestest I liked it more than the first one.May 21, 2013 at 12:43 am #40101
Thanks for all your help :D Star Trek into the darkness? The one with Benedict Cumberbatch? I had heard that this one was better than the first.May 21, 2013 at 6:52 am #40104
Yes to all of those.
Also, he did an incredible job. Nobody does popped collar disdain like Benedict Cumberbatch. ;)May 26, 2013 at 8:09 am #40226

Hi! Where can I find the Radicals Cheat Sheet mentioned in the 30DaysEbook on page 11?
“The first thing you’ll want to do is take a look at the radicals cheat
sheet I’m providing in this book (it’ll either be included in the zip
file or at the end of this ebook in the appendix, depending on
which version you’re looking at).”
I didn’t find it either place mentioned.
