Not much to add here other than I just finished Season 2! I still have a long way to go but I’ve been enjoying the ride so far.

I do agree with icaruspandora though, I’ve found it really helpful to take the multifaceted approach. I just keep exposing myself to a few solid Japanese resources and have found that the “haze” that surrounded a particular grammar point/vocab/kanji suddenly lifts and BAM, it’s all crystal clear. It is a really amazing feeling. I’m currently working on textfugu, wanakani, anki decks, and listening to Japanesepod101. So far I feel like I have already learned so much, but I know it’s just the beginning!

    Cheers!

I would also love to see some Anki number decks. Primarily for all of the special pronunciations. It really helps me to have the audio as well to help reinforce/shadow the correct pronunciation, especially with larger numbers. I just feel like I’m mumbling nonsense… I guess I’ll just make my own, but I really feel like I’m missing out without that pronunciation! Hopefully these will be included with EtoEto (*hint hint*). I’ve also looked on youtube and the anki page but haven’t found anything very helpful…

Joel – Yup, I’ll be living in the Yokosuka area. A little over an hour by JR line from what I recall from my trip in June and supposedly about 45 mins by the Keikyu express train.

    Codeacula – Thanks!

Thanks! My wife’s work will take us there for the next three years. We will be about an hour south of Tokyo. I figured 3 years is long enough that I have to at least try and learn some Japanese while I’m over there. I’m hoping to get some work teaching English once I get my TEFL certification. I figured knowing some Japanese would only help with that too.
