This hurts to say, but I want to be honest: I still haven’t made any progress…

I can give you all kinds of excuses of stuff that caused me to procrastinate, and stuff did happen, but these are just excuses. So let’s just say that I’ve failed. :’(

I plan to pick up to pace again soon, but I guess it’s pointless to make promises now. I will post again when I finished season 6.

    Hi everybody.

Just wanted to tell you that I took a week off learning Japanese. I just felt I needed the rest. I did keep using Anki though.

Today I started again by reviewing everything I learned. This took a lot of time. Vocab went fine, but I feel I need to review the grammar again (mostly from Season 5). I’m going to do that tomorrow and start with season 6 afterwards.

    Wish me luck.

    I finally finished Season 5.

It was difficult for me to keep up at my previous speed of 2 lessons a day, so I toned it down to 1 lesson a day, which was still difficult. It seems that there’s a lot more content in each lesson compared to previous seasons. Also, writing and correcting on Lang-8 takes a lot of time.

One thing that disappointed me, was the way the each Ultimate Vocab list was introduced. In previous lessons there would be a PDF included with the list, which you could use to cram before starting Anki. This method helped me a lot with learning new words. But in Season 5 I just get an Anki file, which makes it harder for me to remember the new vocab.

I’m not sure, but I think I’ve finally reached “The Dip”. It’s getting harder for me to remember the things I’ve learned. I keep forgetting stuff and make more mistakes than I used to. Plus, I’m not as motivated as before :(. Maybe I should just review what I’ve learned for a couple of days before starting the next season. What do you guys think?

    I just finished Season 4! ^_^

This of course means I also posted my first entry on Lang-8. Click here to read it (you need to be logged in though). Although the assignment was to write about yesterday, I decided to write a few sentences about my vacation in Japan (I did nothing interesting yesterday).

Season 5 sounds challenging… Wish me luck ^_^

    Merry Christmas everyone! ^_^

As planned, I just finished season 3. Even though it was a busy day (being Christmas Eve and all), I just couldn’t allow myself to break the chain.

I’ll try to keep this up, but with vocab and grammar piling up fast, I might want to go through old stuff from time to time. So I’ll try to keep doing 2 lessons a day, but some days I might just do 1 lesson and review.

@Aikibujin: Thanks. ^_^ TextFugu did give me some great tips to keep me motivated (ie: in Season 3 Chapter 1, 6 and 10). I just hope I can keep it up. I’m pretty sure you can do it too if you can set your mind to it. Starting the chain is the hardest part.

    I just finished Season 2. ^_^

A lot of the vocab and grammar were already known to me, but so far, I’ve been really enjoying TextFugu. The way TextFugu teaches, makes me finally understand what I’m learning. It also keeps me motivated.

I’ve been making it my ritual to do 2 lessons a day (I haven’t failed yet ^_^). So, if everything goes as planned, I’ll see you guys here next week.
