Season 3 donezo
Learned a few sentence enders I didn’t know and working on some verbs I didn’t know with Anki
Considering I got in for cheap TextFugu was actually worth the money just for keeping things simple. Easier to get motivated for me too to just load a website at work or something and read up than it is to whip out Genki
I’m also becoming an insomniac finishing WaniKani and Core 6K reviews :P

While it doesn’t cover any grammar I haven’t read up on yet (And it might not ever until the big EtoEto update) there’s lots of good stuff in there that made reading it worth my time. I’ve got some new (basic lol) vocab words that I didn’t know and the sentences make for good easy reading practice compared to reading in the wild which is still really time consuming for me
Looking forward to season 3 and hoping I don’t finish season 8 before the update goes through =P
Anki’s not so important as much as having some kind of SRS system in place (which is really important)
Some people have better luck using Memrise (And WaniKani for kanji although you’re paying a sub to use WK even if you’re a forever member here)
The only thing is you’ll need to fill out your own decks if you use Memrise or write your own flash cards – Anki the work’s mostly done for you you just need to import them and study
I think if you give it another shot and maybe slow down a little bit you’ll find yourself more motivated to finish. Remember it’s not going to happen overnight.
It’s just on’yomi vs. kun’yomi
Usually when you’re counting with numbers you use the on’yomi i.e. ichi, ni, san, etc etc etc
In the case of people counters though, as listed, you use kun’yomi for the first two (hito and futa) For now just treat it like an exception and memorize them
You’ll see the kun’yomi again when you use generic counters 「つ」i.e. 九つ「ここのつ」 and in some other situations
Counters are covered later on in Textfugu but it can’t ever hurt to get a preview at what you’re going to look at :)
February 9, 2014 at 12:31 am in reply to: TextFugu Season Completions for Great Motivation of Heart! #43982I’m level 16 on WaniKani and past anything Textfugu pre-Kuma update teaches grammar-wise
But I’m reading through it all for reinforcement and more POVs. Just finished season 1. In a lot of ways I’m wasting my time but I’m finding out little stuff I didn’t know so I think it’s worth it in the end
Really excited about that update too, this place is going to become an invaluable resource soon
