    I am at the same level as you, therefore this might be incorrect.  However, you should be conjugating the Dictionary Form. ます Group 1 verb ending in い becomes う.  For example, さがいます becomes さがう in Dictionary Form.  Then the う in A-Form is わ+ない.  Therefore さがわない.

    Where is the edit function when you need it…. I meant to write to negative casual, not negative past casual.

    I think ipad mini is what you want.  It’s fast, it’s light, it’s <$300, but it doesn’t have retina display.

    Just noticed something really good with the Anki2 app… I often read people recommend making your own sentence cards using parts of the lessons.  I decided to give it a try using Anki2.  The really good thing was; by right clicking on the play icon (audio) next to the sentence you want to copy, selecting copy from the drop down menu, then pasting it into the Anki2 audio space you get audio when you answer the sentences.  Basically the same thing that Textfugu has you download and import.

    @Astralfox-I am happy the brief instructions helped…

    @Sheila-just so you know, even if you get the app you still need to use Anki desktop version to download&import the files from Textfugu.

    Hi Sheila and welcome to Textfugu.  I just upgraded to Anki2.  I’m using it on my iphone, ipad and laptop.  As you realised by now, it is not very easy to use, but it gets easier with practise.  I hated spending $25 on an app, but no choice… If you upgrade to Anki2 you need to follow the directions closely.  Basically though: don’t delete the old Anki from your computer, download anki2, make sure the old anki program is not running, install anki2, open the anki shortcut (it’s the same as the old anki short cut… that confused me a bit as the directions said make sure the old anki is not running.).  Then, after the desktop version is working log in to the new ankiweb website (same as old site but https).  Then go back to the desktop version and synch it with ankiweb.  The whole process takes about an hour and a half so don’t start unless you have the time.  Now you can finally download the anki2 app.  Sync the app with ankiweb (keep remote) and then you are in business.  Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

    cheers

    @Elenkis

    My complaint is not about $25.  It is that the person selling the product charges iphone users only and at a rate that is out of balance with similar priced products.  Look at this way, assume Koichi gives all PC users Textfugu for free; however, if an Apple user wants to use Textfugu they must pay $5000.  I would agree programming for Apple has more expense, and yes he needs to make money, but should it be 1000% more than similar Japanese language products?  Then lets go a step further and say you couldn’t even use Textfugu on your Apple after buying it.  You still had to go back to your PC to download the lessons just to view it on your Apple.  That is basically how I see the situation of using ANKI on iphone.

    I completely agree with Kekoa.  There are some AMAZING apps that cost much much less than ANKI.  ANKI is has not had any updates to the iphone version for a long time either.  To say iphone users have to subsidize all the free versions is sooooo unfair.  It seems vain of Mr. Elmes to think that all the other app makers who charge 1000% less for their apps do less work.

    Starting “Season 5″ today. Season 4 was challenging.  I don’t believe in taking notes, so I just repeated “Season 4″ about 3 times.

    @kanjiman8

    I end up sleeping about 4 hours awake for 8, sleep another 4, awake again for 8.  After 4 hours I do feel wide awake, however your alert level and energy level is much shorter.  In a normal sleep pattern you are awake 16 hours, sleep 8 hours. I am awake 8 hours, sleep 4 hours, awake 8 hours.  So I am not really getting extra work hours.  Also, the time I am awake is not as useful.  To make it more clear, a normal person who sleeps for 8 hours winds down in the evening and sleeps.  Those last couple hours before going to bed are not that useful for learning or exercise because you are tired. As for me, I wind down twice a day and thus become less efficient compared to people who wind down once a day.  Power naps help a lot, but that just makes you even less efficient compared to a normal sleep cycle.  Also, there are personality changes that you may experience.  Things that are normally laugh out loud funny may barely get you to smile and things that you wouldn’t notice will annoy you and you will get progressively more forgetful.  There is some very good research about circadian rhythm disruptions and the effects on TSH and Melanin hormones.  (You can google search it) Your brain is confused about why you are not sleeping when you should so increases TSH hormone levels.  Eventually you will get symptoms of mild hypothyroidism over time.  Also, if you miss a 4 hour sleep cycle you risk micro-sleep.  That is when your body will involuntarily sleep for a second or two and you will not notice it, regardless what you are doing.  Many car crashes happen in this way because people don’t properly calculate how much sleep they have had before getting behind the wheel.
